Padma Bridge

The Padma Multipurpose Bridge is the longest bridge in Bangladesh. The Padma Bridge was inaugurated on June 25, 2022. The Padma Bridge has been constructed over a large river with a swift current. The Padma Bridge is the biggest project implemented by Bangladesh without any foreign aid. The bridge is constructed with concrete and steel. The length of the main bridge is 6.15 km and the width is 18.18 meters. The bridge connects Mawa in the Munshiganj district to Jajira in the Shariatpur district. The bridge's construction was begun on December 7, 2015, and was completed on June 30, 2022. It is built by "China Major Bridge Engineering Construction Company Limited." A team led by AECOM designs the bridge. It has two layers: a four-lane road at the top and a railway at the bottom. The bridge has 42 spans, each 150 km long, and can carry 3140 tons of weight. The bridge has a total of 286 piles, of which 262 are steel and 24 are concrete. Bangladesh spends over 30,000 BD to build the longest structure. The Padma Bridge will be used in the future for rail, gas, power lines, and fiber-optic cable expansion. The bridge has connected the southwest part of the country with the capital and the eastern part of Bangladesh. The bridge  has marked a new horizon in the country's communication system. It has brought a revolutionary change to the lives of southwest residents.
